Posted Speed

I have been travelling the same way to work for the past four years, and I have been aware of the posted speed limit for this stretch of road. Today, on my way into work, I noticed a new sign that lowered the posted speed limit for a long stretch before it changed back to the speed that it had been posted at previously. I shared about the changed speed limit with the people at work so that they would be aware, as many of them travel this same stretch of road.

John 14:26 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (NKJV)

This got me thinking about my Christian walk and how God sees my walk with Him. As we journey with Him, we may become aware of changes that He wants to make in our lives. Until such things are pointed out to us by the Holy Spirit, we are not held accountable for them. Once we become aware, though, we need to make those changes, and we are accountable for them.

Had I been stopped for speeding, I could not have claimed that I hadn't seen the change in speed signage. I would have been accountable to know that it had changed. As believers, we are accountable now to God, just as it says in this Scripture:

Romans 3:19 – Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. (NIV)

Let us not become complacent in our journey and miss the changes that come our way. We need to be aware at all times of what is going on around us. Just because we have taken the road before does not mean that the Lord doesn't have something new for us to be aware of. There will come a day when we will stand before Jesus, and we will be accountable for our words and actions.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the measure of grace that You so freely give to us. Help us to share Your grace with a lost and hurting world. We recognize that we need You day by day and minute by minute in our lives. Help us always to be aware of and in tune with this truth. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
